The Best Cortado Cup

Oh man, we love this drink! A cortado is one of those beautiful moments where espresso and milk meet in perfect balance. But let’s talk about how to make it—and which vessel is truly the best.

What Is a Cortado?

Traditionally, a cortado means half and half: equal parts espresso and milk. That’s why you’ll often see it served in a 3 oz cup, just enough to balance the two.

Why We Prefer 4 oz

From our experience as baristas (and serious coffee lovers), we’ve learned that sometimes a little more space makes all the difference. A 4 oz cup gives the espresso just a touch more room for milk, creating a smoother balance and a better drinking experience. The extra ounce might not sound like much, but it can completely change the texture and feel of the drink.

Our Take

For us, the 4 oz cup is the perfect cortado cup. It honors the tradition while giving a more enjoyable espresso-to-milk ratio. It’s the sweet spot between classic espresso culture and modern coffee drinking.
